16 Rough Renovation Successful

Last fall we renovated the roughs in front of 12 and 16 tees.  Our old roughs are comprised of old fairway grasses and non desirable grass that does not look or play well at higher heights of cut.  The bottom picture is the rough now in front of 16 tee before it has been fertilized and we had very favorable results.  Ideally, after we renovate holes, we should address the roughs on each hole the following fall, when it is the best time to seed.

6th tees ready for sod on Monday

We are nearing completion of the 6th tee complex.  This is the view from the black tees and as you can see, the tees have been shifted significantly to the left, closer to the cart path and we also eliminated the amoeba shaped big tees with a more formal square tee look to match all the other new tees on the golf course.  With good weather, we are hoping to have the tees open for play on May 15th, our Open Guest Day.

6th Hole Bunkering Completed

The bunkering on the 6th hole is now complete.  As you remember, we lost the large oak at the dogleg to Sandy and we had to add 2 additional bunkers to the right side to protect the dogleg.  #6 is now almost done, we are working on the new tees this week and should be done by Monday.  The 6th hole now has much more strategy off the tee than before.

#7 Green Complex Finished

The 7th green complex is complete.  We removed the old retaining wall and sloped the banks down to the waters edge.  We ask that your remain off the banks until we remove the ropes so the sod can knit in and banks can remain stable.  We added a new section of green to the back left and you will have to flirt with the greenside bunker to get to it.  We basically shifted the pot bunker to the right and made it more visible and we opened up the approach a bit more for run up shots.  The long bunker on the left was eliminated and we made 2 deeper bunkers and now created access points to the green from the cart path.

Almost Done on #3

The third hole is nearly complete.  We built 8 new bunkers, 4 new tees, shifted the fairway to the right, expanded the green by 1000 sq ft to create new back right location, resodded the green complex, relocated the ditch down to the fairway for drainage and will upgrade the landscaping around the tee.  The winter slowed us down but with the dry weather we will be done by Saturday when the last 3 pallets of rough sod are laid in the fairway.
