A Breath of Fresh Air

The old hemlocks along the parking lot were damaged this winter and were loaded with scale and were thinned out.  With the removal of these we now get sunlight on the parking lot which is big during the winter months and we open up a nice view of the clubhouse.

Give Me A Break!

The sky is gray and the temperature is cold, perfect for another snow storm.  In the meantime, we are trying to get this 6" pipe run across the 17th fairway, back filled and sodded before the end of the day and the snow starts.  On top of that we will be aerifying a few more fairways so we are ahead of the game when the snow melts......again.

Hope He Stays!

This Bald Eagle has been hanging around all winter with his mate.  Today he actually landed on 13 and is probably looking for food.  Lets hope they decide to stay permanently as they are beautiful birds.

Punching Fairways

We know the $%*& will hit the fan once the weather improves so we are getting out early and getting some minor punching done on fairways.  In mid April the fairways will then get aggressively verticut and topdressed before the season gets going.

Ready for Fill

The new practice green area was cleared of snow on Friday and today we stripped off the fescue that was here.  We are hoping to get fill brought in this week to start shaping in the green.  The cart path by the practice tee was removed today as well in advance of the fill coming in.

Improved Hedge

We reused the boxwood hedge from the old practice tee area and put it near the caddie staging area.  The bushes there were thinned out from people stepping over them and from winter burn.  A nice improvement with no cost involved.

The Things We Do

With a busy spring ahead of us and a time sensitive project like the construction of the new practice green, have to get a head start so we can begin the project next week.  Back bladed all the snow off the area so it will be dry dried out so work can begin as soon as possible.  By next week some time if weather permits you should start to see what the new green will look like.

A "Quick" Project

What was supposed to be a quick drainage project on the 5th fairway turned into a nightmare as we encountered large rock after large rock only several inches below the fairway.  In some cases they were so big we had to go over them and in other cases we wound up making the trench 3x the size to get them out.  As long as we get it buttoned up today before the noreaster hits tonight and tomorrow.
